This past weekend our family went to Fairmont for a Vance cousin’s Wedding. It was a 6 hour drive and the kids fared beautifully! Paige was awake for the first couple of hours. Josh and Gabe ate snacks from their own snack bags and played with toys from the toy bag. They were well entertained. Our road trip theme some was Heart’s a Mess by Gotye, at Joshua’s repeated request. It was so funny to watch him yell out the words he did know, at the top of his lungs. Gabrielle was joining in during the ride home. We saw rainbows and wildlife.
We stayed in a Loft Suit at the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort. The Hot Spring Pools were so nice to soak in. It drizzled most of the weekend, but it was refreshing while sitting in the water.
Why was the wedding there you ask? It was central for family who came from Calgary and BC, and apparently the couple met at Fairmont. The ceremony was at the Ski Lodge and the reception was back at the hotel. Because of how late the reception was, I stayed in the hotel room with our girls. Jason brought me a yummy plate of Rare Roast Beef dinner. It was funny – I said before we left that I hoped it would be a Roast dinner, as I can’t make that at home. It was!
The room was fun. The last time all of us shared a room was four years ago, for a Kelowna wedding. And none of us had kids then. Our suit had a mini kitchen, which was ideal because of having kids with us. Jason and I were able to go to the pool alone, which was nice.
Our drive home was a little crazy. The milk in the kid’s cups went sour. It was fine when I had cereal that morning – wierd. So there were a few tears for a couple hours before we got to Revelstoke. We met up with a Kaiser cousin and an Aunt and a Grandma there. Jason’s Mom had sent us home with some fresh Veggies from her garden – broccoli was some of that. By Revelstoke, our van smelt gnarly!
The rest of the drive home was quiet, as the kids all fell asleep.
T’was a fun road trip. Check out the pics below!
