On a drizzling day we took a drive to the Gellatly Nut Farm in West Kelowna. It is a working, historical orchard on the lake.
We walked through the process of harvesting nuts on the farm, heard about different types of pollination, saw a variety in nut husk textures, and got to pick nuts to later be sold on the farm.
Joshua avoided participating as much as possible until he saw the spiky Chestnut Husk. Then he couldn’t stop talking about how it would incorporate well with a Lego build he had. The girls enjoyed seeing the drying room (London saw a mouse) and picking nuts from the ground.
