The kids and I went to the beach today with Michelle and Jace. I slathered and covered and clipped a lifejacket on Joshua. But first I had to get him out of the water, to get him ready to be in the water. Here’s a little background info. I recently borrowed a video on teaching your child to swim. Tape one was introducing them to the water (a bath, kiddie pool…). Joshua watched it with me. I guess seeing all those kids in the water, and enjoying it gave him the confidence he was missing last year. He was nearly in it up to his neck. I couldn’t get him out of the water today. With all that gear on him, he couldn’t dry quick enough and was shivering in the lake. I had to bribe him out with a bottle. And had to keep running back in the water to drag him out. I’m just glad he’s not afraid of water. His father would have been so proud to see him today.
