So, we’ve had snow for like five days now. Today was the first day it was somewhat decent to go outside. Ok, it was still bitterly cold, but the sun was out. I decided to pitch in and help with the snow shoveling; more like snow moving. It was really lite and I could have pushed a broom if I’d wanted. Anyways, I bundled up Joshua in the usual cold weather fineries and brought him outside with me. Funny how cold weather makes a kid actually keep his hat and mitts on, rather than his usual act of discarding them the moment I’m not in sight. He seemed to enjoy exploring the white stuff. As he doesn’t yet own a snow suit, I made due with layering, and plastic sneakers (somewhat snow proof). He would wander into a snow mound, and then feel the coldness at his knees and quickly walk back out. I taught him to stamp the snow from his legs and feet. I finally had to drag him in when it looked like his boogies were freezing to his face. I don’t think he realized just how cold he was until I pulled off his snowie clothes and put fleeces on him. It took quite a while for his cheeks to loose their red tinge. Unfortunately, I was unable to capture his meanders on film, as I couldn’t find the camera. Maybe some other time.
For the curious, here are the current weather conditions:
As of 11pm, it is -23 and mostly clear. Can you say “DANG COLD”!?
