Baby Girl Birth Timeline (caution -Graphic)
7:00 am – called Caseroom
*was told to come in between 7:30 & 8 am
7:40 am – arrived at KGH
8:30 am – was put in a bed in the observation room
8:40 am – Dr. Reynolds arrived & examined me
-baby’s head was high
8:45 am – Dr. R administered the Prostoglandin Gel
*I was attached to the heart rate and contractions monitor
8:52 am – felt the first contraction (rate was off the chart)
8:57 am – felt the second contraction (not near off the chart)
9:10 am – 7th contraction was higher than the 2nd
*continued with off the chart contractions
*contractions were regular in timing and sporadic in intensity
9:45-10:45 am – walked around the caseroom ward
*contractions became irradic in timing and sporadic in intensity
*feeling really sleepy
*doing partial squats during contractions seemed to lessen the pain
10:57 am – was put back on the monitor
11:00 am – contractions became closer together and intense
11:15 am – contractions were leading into each other
*was examined, still 3 cm, head still high
11:30 am – sent home as I hadn’t progressed past 3 cm
12:30 pm – ate Wendy’s for lunch while parked at the water near the hospital
*sat in the car, breathing through contractions while tired Jason slept
2:15-40 pm – contractions seemed to disappear
2:30 pm – returned to Caseroom as instructed
2:45 pm – put back on monitor
2:55 pm – contractions spiked to 127 on monitor
3:35 pm – Nurse did an exam
*head was lower
3:53 pm – Dr. Reynolds did an exam during a contraction, OW!
*was 4/5 cm and head was lower
4:05 pm – moved to birthing room #4
*nurse moved stuff in, Jason was at the car getting my bag
*contractions intensified
4:30 pm – Dr. Reynolds broke my water during a contraction
*5 cm dilated
*I asked for an epidural,
me: “I can’t do this for 2 hrs”
DR: “it won’t be that long”
me: “what are my other options, not Demeral”
DR: “there is Fentenol”
me: screams of pain
*Jason finally returned
4:40 pm – contractions intensified again!
*told to go in the shower to relieve pain
*no time for drugs or IV
*Jason supported me in the bathroom
*he had to leave for something briefly
*I told God I couldn’t handle anymore pain – contraction pressure changed to feeling the need to push
*blood technician asked how long I’d be in the shower
me: “forever”
tech: “I’ll come back”
*hot water was soothing
4:55 pm – medical team rushed in when they heard my pushing screams
*wrapped me in a hot blanketand moved me back to the bed
*tech took my blood (bruised for nearly 2 weeks)
*medical team scrambled to get ready for delivery
*I felt so tired
*was given Gas briefly to focus on and help with the pain, which made me feel more drowsy
*Ow!
*told the Dr to “pull!” haha
5:10 pm – last few pushes, felt her feet kicking me inside *baby girl was placed on my chest
*Jason cut her cord
*she peed in my hand (Joshua didn’t)
*so tired, so dopie
I’m finished! No more pain.
